The Kirkwood Fire Company is always looking for dedicated personal who are looking to make a difference in their community. A volunteer fire company provides a variety of services locally and across the state. Specific tasks of a volunteer firefighter may include but are not limited to:
By joining the Kirkwood Fire Co., you will gain valuable experience, build lasting memories, and be apart of an extraordinary team. Also, when you become a volunteer, you become eligible to receive scholarships and tax benefits for your service. In some cases, firefighters who show experience volunteering with a fire department on a resume obtain higher consideration for employment. We will work with you to find a job that you are comfortable with and physically able to preform.
To become a member of our organization you need to be at least 16 years of age and been a resident of the Town of Kirkwood for at least six months. Applicants will be required to pass a background check and a physical exam provided at no cost. Depending on what the applicant wants to participate in, additional training and NYS classes will be required, all at no cost to you.
We have training or a meeting every Monday night (except holidays) at 7:00PM, and Wednesday mornings (except holidays) at 9:00am. Stop by Station 1 and feel free to ask for a tour or have your questions answered! You can also call us at (607) 775-2411 or email us from our contact page.
